Whether you want to go vegan for a moral choice or a health consideration, it’s always an adjustment to start. But when researching your food options, you might find a few surprising vegan foods along the way.

Life is Short, Eat Dessert First
We love some good vegan desserts. Luckily, there are some ready-to-go sweet treats already on the shelves of your local grocery store.
Oreos
Oreos are an important vegan junk food. They’re chocolatey, wholesome goodness that you can dip in a cup of almond milk when you need to smile.
Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup
Amazingly, Hershey’s chocolate syrup doesn’t use dairy products. Neither does the strawberry syrup! Sadly, the caramel variety is not vegan. I guess we can’t have everything.
Fruit by the Foot
I’m always so happy when I find a gummy snack that doesn’t contain gelatin. It’s a feeling sweet as, well, candy!
Lindt Dark Chocolate
Lindt chocolates have always been a favorite of mine, and I was so pleased to hear that their dark chocolates don’t contain dairy.
Nutter Butter Cookies
Nutter butter cookies are such a sweet, peanut buttery treat. I’m so happy they made the list!
Jello Instant Pudding Mix
Vegan favors include Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon, Pistachio, and Banana Cream! All you need to do is use non-dairy milk when you make them.
Breaking the Fast, Vegan-Style
This year I went from someone who usually skips breakfast to someone who goes all out to make the first meal of my day spectacular. Thankfully, there are some grocery staples that I can keep in my vegan life.
Betty Crocker Bisquick Original Pancake & Baking Mix
You’ll need to switch up the directions a bit by not adding egg or cow milk, but the pancake and baking mix from Betty Crocker is completely vegan!
Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch
I’m not much of a cereal person these days, but when I crave it I crave it hard. Thankfully one of my favorites is vegan-friendly!
Life Original
Another cereal option is the original flavor of Life! Whether you’re eating it with plant milk or making homemade Chex mix, you can use Life and stay within your vegan needs.
Unfrosted Pop-Tarts
Pop-Tarts are a guilty pleasure that makes me think of my childhood. So I’m so happy that there are vegan options!
BelVita
Crunchy blueberry, cranberry orange, golden oat, chocolate, cinnamon brown sugar, and toasted coconut belVita sandwiches are vegan. These are a great quick breakfast item if you’re on the go.
For the Hangries
The afternoon slump can drag you down. On some days, you just need a pick-me-up snack. Salty always comes before sweet, and you will be amazed at all the choices.
Takis
Both Takis Fuego and Takis Nitro are vegan. These are my favorite go-to spicy chips.
Lay’s Potato Chips
Lay’s Classic and Barbecue Potato Chips are vegan-friendly, making them the perfect salty snack.
Ritz Whole Wheat Crackers
Ritz crackers with cheese slices were my go to after-school snack as a kid. These days, Ritz whole wheat crackers with Chao cheese slices does the trick.
Fritos
Fritos are a great vegan snack. I personally like to eat them with chili.
Ruffles Potato Chips
Another fantastic salty snack, ruffles potato chips are also suitable for vegans.
Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars
The Cinnamon, Peanut Butter, Apple Crisp, Maple Brown Sugar, Roasted Almond, and Pecan Crunch flavors are all vegan-friendly here.
Clif Bars
The only non-vegan Clif Bar flavor is the mini blueberry crisp, meaning you can eat every other one!
Pasta, Pasta, Pasta
For some reason, I always assumed that most pasta was egg based and most instant noodles had some sort of meat broth. Luckily, there are lots of instances where that’s not the case.
Pasta (dry):
Almost all dried pasta is made without egg and, as a result, vegan. So are most tomato sauces.
Koyo
The vegan options for Koyo instant noodles include Garlic Pepper, Lemongrass Ginger, and Shiitake Mushroom. My personal favorite is the Lemongrass Ginger.
Rice Noodles
Rice noodles are a great light option to substitute for egg noodles that are present in a lot of dishes at Chinese restaurants.
Simply Asia Sesame Teriyaki Noodle Bowl
This instant ramen bowl is extremely good, and I was so happy to hear that it’s a surprising vegan food.
That’s a Vegan Wrap, Folks
The vegan lifestyle doesn’t have to mean a super restrictive eating routine. There may already be a food you love that will slide seamlessly into your new vegan lifestyle. Do your research, read the labels, and find the foods that make you happy. Along the way, you’re guaranteed to find more surprising vegan foods to add to the list. You can make fun choices, and the transition to vegan doesn’t have to be a bumpy one.
